How it all started…
Buckey Legried was a beloved member of a small rural community in Southern Minnesota. His warm smile and kind heart made him a friend to everyone he met.
Buckey’s famous hat collection began years ago, in 1967, with just a few hats given to him occasionally by those he did business with. Over time, he became part of a Nationwide group of collectors and received hats from all over the country. Each hat became a treasured token to include friendship, laughter, and shared memories.
Today, Buckey’s hats represent far more than a collection; they’re a testament to a life filled with connection, gratitude, and the joy of community. Each of the 100K+ hats tells a story — and together, they tell the story of Buckey’s big-hearted spirit and the many lives he’s touched along the way.
